Nautic Partners, LLC, a private equity firm with more than $1.8 billion of capital under management, today announced that it has made a significant investment in North American Communications Resource, Inc. (NACR), a leading Value Added Solution Provider (VASP) of Avaya voice and data communications systems to corporations. Nautic’s investment was made in partnership with NACR’s management to recapitalize the Company and position the business for continued rapid growth. Tom Roles, NACR’s CEO, retained a substantial equity interest and will continue to lead the Company. Other terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1993, NACR focuses on the design, installation, and sale of complex voice and data solutions to a diverse customer base of mid-sized and large corporate customers. NACR is Avaya’s largest business partner in the world.

Nautic and NACR also announced that John Stuart has agreed to join NACR as Chairman of the Board. Stuart is the former President and CEO of IKON Office Solutions, a leading office products company that grew from $250 million in revenue to a $4 billion global company during his tenure.
Since its founding, Nautic Partners has made a significant number of acquisitions in the business services sector. These transactions, which have taken the form of leveraged buyouts, management buyouts, and leveraged recapitalizations, include such companies as Contec Holdings, a provider of cable set-top box repair and maintenance services, Corporate Lodging Holdings, a provider of contract lodging management services, and MACTEC, Inc., a provider of integrated engineering and environmental consulting services. NACR is Nautic Partners’ primary platform investment in the enterprise communication services space.
